Abducted BIPL workers released
The three BIPL workers who have been allegedly abducted by NSCN (R) on March 6 from between Kangpokpi and Changoubung has been released by the abductors yesterday night at 11 pm at Karong in Senapati district.
The three abducted workers of Bharti Infra Private Limited (BIPL) were Amuchou alias Gopal, Bijoy and Temba.
A reception programme was held today at KSO Sadar Hills office at Kangpokpi by Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District (KIK) in the presence of SP Kangpokpi accompanied by additional SP Kangpokpi and their families, BIPL officials and other civil society organisations.
Later, KIK handed over the three BIPL workers to the concerned SP Kangpokpi who later handover to the BIPL officials.
During a reception function secretary of KIK, Lamminlun Singsit expressed serious disappointment over the allegation by Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) on the abduction and demand clarification at the earliest.
He said that the allegation of NPO president, Solomon Arow who stated that according to their investigation the abductors had taken down the abducted BIPL workers to Kangpokpi area and not confirming that they were not detained in Senapati district has deeply disappointed the people of Kangpokpi who wholeheartedly took initiative and key role for the safe release.
He also said the findings by NPO looks like it wanted to conceal the involvement of NSCN(R) in the abduction by pointing finger towards Kangpokpi district, which relentlessly put maximum efforts even by imposing 24 hours bandh along NH-2.
Lamminlun continued that to unearth the truth KIK asked the three BIPL workers as to where they were held captive by the abductors after they were abducted, to which they responded that they were taken up to Senapati and held captive in an unknown jungle until they were released yesterday night.
Based on the disclosure of the abducted BIPL workers, KIK secretary questioned the authenticity of the NPO investigation and asked the motive behind the false allegation.
The KIK also demanded clarification on the part of the NPO chief at the earliest so as to avoid misunderstanding and cautioned that if he failed to do so, any communal misunderstandings arisen out of the issue he shall solely responsible.
Temba, one of the abducted said that no harassment has meted out to them and the abductors provide them good food while they are held captive in the jungle but they don’t disclose anything except stating that they were kidnapped as they (the abductors) wanted to talk with their (BIPL) officials.
He also said that the abductors communicate with them in Manipuri language but talks in Poumai language while having conversation among them.
