AMUCO condemns banning of broadcasting CAB related news in local channels
IMPHAL | Feb 12
AMUCO has today said that democracy of the state is completely diluted and that the state government is now comparable to a “dictatorial form of government”. President of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), Ph. Deban condemned the order issued by district magistrate of Imphal West, of banning transmission/broadcasting or retransmission of information and public speeches of CAB related news in local cables.
This was stated in the 26th foundation day of AMUCO held at its Kwakeithel Akham Leikai office.
Deban said that AMUCO was formed with an objective to uphold unity and integrity of the state during Kuki-Naga communal riot in 1993. “Despite putting enormous effort to preserve unity of the state, the government is adopting divide and rule policy to break the bonding of various communities” he decried.
“However AMUCO will never give up from our stand and will always be ready to face any kind of challenges given by government of India (GoI) which we have been facing since our inception,” he added.
Underscoring the stand of GoI against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) 2016, Deban lamented that the people of state has also been demanding for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state for the last many years. Instead of materialising the demand, it is trying to pass the Bill by using all possible means. This clearly shows that GoI does not want to listen to voice of public, he noted.
While urging people of North East region to stay united all the time, he said that GoI treat people of NE very differently and give tensions in various forms from time to time. In the name of development, they try to extract the resources of this region. To face all these consequences, it is very necessary to stay united, he added.
As a part of the 26th foundation day programme, two minute silence was observed to pay respect to the departed souls of AMUCO members.
Vice president AMUCO, Ph. Nando and general secretary S. Sanjoy were also the presidium members of the function. They also hoisted the flag of the organisation as part of the occasion.
