‘Minority communities need to be accorded equal treatment for a developed State’
THOUBAL | Feb 11“To bring about a developed Manipur, it is essential that the minority communities of the State are accorded equal treatment,” said the newly elected chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission (MSMC)¸ Md Anwar Hussain.
He stated this during the celebration ceremony for his election as chairperson of the commission which was held at his residence at Lilong Tairen Makhong. Along with the victory celebrations, a Dua (prayer) ceremony for the peace and welfare of the Sate was also held.
Speaking on the occasion, Md Anwar Hussain reiterated that without the development of the minority communities, the State will never witnessed all round development while assuring that he will do his best to bring the level and status of the minority communities in par with the general community. While urging the people to avail the benefits provided by the state and central governments under various schemes for minorities he also ensured that every part of the funds released for the welfare of the minorities communities will reach the intended beneficiaries and also appealed for cooperation and support from the masses in the welfare projects taken up by the commission.
He further said, “I contested the Manipur Legislative Assembly election as a BJP candidate from Lilong assembly constituency although he unfortunately lost the contest; however, I am thankful to the government led by the CM for selecting him as representative of the minority communities.
The programme witnessed the attendance of former DCO of Thoubal, Alhaj Md Rousan Khan; councillor of Lilong Municipal Council, ward no-II, Sahid Ahamed; councillor, ward no VI, Abdul Barik; councillor, ward no-VI, Abdul Barik; councillor, ward no VII, Abdul Kalam and councillor (nominee) of ward no V, Madini along with other ward members. It was also witnessed the attendance of pradhan, Turel Ahanbi Athoukhong GP, Md Idrish Ali; president, BJP Manipur Pradesh Minority Morcha, Alhaj Abdus Salam and former pradhan of Khekman GP, Asem Subon as presidium members.
