Government will not act against interest of state: Shyamkumar

Forest minister, Thounaojam Shyamkumar today gave assurance to the people of Manipur that the State Government fully understands the sentiments of the people and reassured that the Government will not act against the interest of the State.
He was speaking regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 at the inauguration of the new building of the Ningthounai Primary School constructed under the Multi-sectoral Development Program (MsDP) at Yairipok Ningthounai, Andro Assembly Constituency, Imphal East district.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Th. Shyamkumar said that the State Government will go to any extent to safeguard the interest of the indigenous people of the State. Stating that the State Government needs full cooperation of the public, he requested not to misinterpret or misquote statements of the people’s representatives.
Regarding the inauguration of the new building of the Ningthounai Primary School, he said that the aim and objective of the Government is to revive the Government schools in the State. Stating that education is essential for the development and progress of the State, he said that the public support is necessary to make the mission a success.
Advising the School Committee members of the primary school to inform the officials concerned regarding the required amenities, he said that the school will be given full facilities at par with other Government schools including water facility which will also cater to the needs of the people residing near the school.
Stating that Friday will be a holiday instead of Sunday for the students of the Ningthounai Primary School, he opined that prayer time is also necessary for the students to help in inculcating discipline and good behaviour. He opined that the students of the primary school can expand their mental horizon as Urdu and other languages will be taught as subjects in the school.
Director, Minority Affairs, Ng. Uttam Singh said that the State Government is focusing to reach out to the minority villages after the grand success of the ‘Go To Village’ mission.
He said that the State Government is also focusing on ‘School Fagathansi’ mission which has been introduced with an objective to give renewed thrust towards improvement of Government schools both in terms of physical and manpower infrastructure.
Stating that MsDP has been renamed and restructured as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), he said it aims to provide better socio economic infrastructure facilities to the minority communities particularly in the field of education, health and skill development which would further lead to lessening of the gap between the national average and the minority communities with regard to backwardness parameters.
The function was also attended by officials of Minority Affairs, Government of Manipur, students and guardians, local residents, among others.
