Relay hunger strike against CAB begins
IMPHAL | Feb 10Six members of Chanura Marup led by general secretary, political affairs of MPP, Bikram began relay hunger strike against CAB at the entrance gate of Manipur people’s party today.

Speaking to media persons, Thasana Devi said a leader who cannot stand for the people is not fit to be a leader. She also said that they are prepared for the third Nupeelal if CAB is passed in the Rajya Sabha. An uprising stronger than the June 18 incident can arise in the state, she added
The government should not think that it will be able to suppress the voice of the people and other members are also prepared to join the relay hunger strike said the president.
Addressing media persons at its office today, president of the party, Oinam Jugindro Singh said that the party had also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, home minister and the governor of the State but the Centre after underrating the voices of the NE people had passed the bill in the Lok Sabha.
The party had earlier opposed CAB and the party will continue to oppose it and the hunger strike lead by MPP general secretary political affairs of MPP, Bikram and active member of MPP Chanura Marup will continue till February 12, said the president.
He further said that if the bill is forcibly passed in the Rajya Sabha, the party will take up different forms of protest and agitations.
While reacting to the statement made by forest minister, Shyamkumar regarding CAB, Jugindro also said that the minister made the statement to obtain some benefits from the BJP government. It is an act of fooling the people of the state, he added.
The bill will be accepted if it is not going to have any negative impact to the NE region but it will surely harm NE and the State, said Jugindro.
