Paokai powers Ward No.1 into KIWAT Final
KANGPOKPI | Feb 5Paokai double in the 47th and 56th minute and Haominlen early opener in the 11th minute with Sehgouhao late goal in the 70th minute squalled Ward No.1 into the final round of the ongoing 15th Kanggui Inter Ward Tournament.
Ward No. 1 (A) pulled of a brilliant comeback after an almost Quarter-Final exit in the hands of Ward No. 2(A) by blowing away Ward No.11 (A) 4-0 in the first Semi-Final match today at M. Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi DHQs to book their place in the final to be held on February 9.
Paaji Hangshing and Sehgouhao also known as SehMessi for his Messi look alike appearance and style of footballing combined in tandem in the midfield to support the two talented striker Paokai and Haominlen in doing away Ward No.11 from the tournament.
The day could have been different for Ward No. 1 had its Custodian Mimin Chongloi not produced a pair of brilliant saves to preserve his team’s lead and the front man of Ward No.11 (A) had made a good finished in three of the goalmouth opportunity.
In another first semi-final match of Team-B, Ward No. 8(B) eliminated Ward No. 12(B) 2-0 to line up in the auspicious final match. Satminthang converted a penalty kick in the 26th minute after Len Hangshing was brought down in the penalty area by Ward 12(B) defender and Satshei had another first touch goal in the 56th minute after he substituted an injured teammate in the second half.
Tomorrow, Ward No. 1(B) will play Ward No. 14(B) in the second semi-final of Team-B at 12:00 pm while Ward No. 13(A) will lock horn with Ward No.10 in another second semi-final of Team-A at 2:00 pm.
Meanwhile, the final match of Men’s and Women’s Volleyball will held on February 7 at Sports Complex, Kangpokpi DHQs which will be attended by Chairman, KTC ,Lunseh Kipgen as chief guest while president, KWWO, Hekim Hangshing and president, KYU, Tolminthang Misao will be attending as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
In Men’s Volleyball, Ward No. 3 will play Ward No. 2 in the final match while Ward No. 9(B) will play Ward No. 3 (B) in Women’s Volleyball final.
