NIA arrests valley commander of KCP (PWG) involved in Paraolon ambush caseIMPHAL | Jan 10
One Laishram Anand alias Sana Singh, 27, son of late L. Rajen of Chajing Karam Makha Leikai, said to be valley commander of the proscribed militant group KCP (Peoples War Group) who was involved in the 2015 Paraolon ambush on Indian Army convoy, was arrested by NIA after taking permission from the chief judicial magistrate, Imphal West.
He was formally arrested during his court appearance.
It may be mentioned that Anand was arrested on December 28 last year for his alleged involvement in uploading threatening message on social media against the central government and chief minister, N. Biren regarding the Manipur University crisis, border pillar issue an others.
It is reported that while he was in police custody on January 4, NIA examined him and he revealed that he was an active member of the proscribed group KYKL during the time of Paraolon ambush and later joined KCP (PWG).
He further revealed that he was one of the members of the militant groups who personally took part in the said ambush.
NIA took up the investigation of the Paraolon ambush following the directive of the ministry of Home Affairs after considering the gravity of the incident.
During investigations, NIA clearly established that the very ambush on 6th Dogra Regiment of Paraolon on June 4, 2015 was carried out jointly by the cadres of proscribed group NSCN (K), KYKL and KCP in pursuance of a criminal conspiracy hatched by the senior leaders of different insurgent groups.
One of the accused person of the case identified as Khumlo Abi Anal alias Ambison was arrested for his direct involvement in the commission of the offence and accordingly, charge sheet was filed against Ambison before the special judge NIA, Manipur on December 19, 2015.
The court has also issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against 17 absconding cadres of militant groups for their direct involvement in the said ambush.
Subsequently, three other persons identified as Naorem Premkanta alias Van Damme, Anil Rai alias Meiraba and M. Nimaichand Meitei alias Lanloi alias Tapan Rai were also arrested for their direct involvement in the said ambush.
They are presently lodged in Central Jail, Sajiwa and accordingly supplementary charge sheet was filed against them by NIA on July 9, 2018.
