Inaugurations not so impressive, BJP govt should initiate a new project at least: O. Ibobi
“The Congress Party is not so impressed in having the Prime Minister inaugurate a few small projects by the BJP led, Biren’s government, claiming those as their achievement. The people clearly know who initiated those projects. If the BJP government has any calibre, they are appealed to initiate at least a new project for the people of Manipur,” said opposition leader, Manipur Legislative Assembly and former chief minister, O. Ibobi.
He made the statement as the chief guest in the programme held yesterday at the hall of Shikhong Muslim Community regarding the launching of door-to-door campaign (jan sampark abhiyan) of Congress party in Heirok assembly constituency.
The occasion was also held for making acquaintance with Congress party’s newly appointed delegates, unit committee etc. of the assembly constituency’s polling 39.
Launching the campaign which will be conducted in all the 60 assembly constituencies under the aegis of All India Congress Committee, he further stated that chaos will be upon the people if a party such as BJP which is not based on secularism, continues to rule the government further. BJP is based only in one religion; he alleged adding that most the parties in the India do not have their own constitutions. Most of them exist on temporarily basis and do not have any particular system of their own, he added.
The only party meant to lead the government in India for a longer period of time is the Congress party, he said. Strengthening the party is strengthening India, he stated while adding the only way to bring peaceful co-existence in India and Manipur is to strengthen Congress party.
The Prime Minister was given a warm welcome by the Congress in his visit to the State. However, he left without answering the questions raised by the Congress Party, Ibobi alleged. The BJP is declaring with full pride that the PM has visited the State three times to meet with the people but no new projects have been launched, he alleged. During the time of Congress, former PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh visited the State twice and on his second trip, not only Assam Rifles was removed from Kangla but many projects were launched, he added. Above that, Manipur University was promoted to being a centralised university. There can be no end in appreciating what the Congress party had done for the region, he added.
If PM, Modi had any affection for the people, he would have declared to the people of Manipur that DM University, which was inaugurated recently as being centralised. However, he left without making no such declarations, he added.
Regarding DM University, its works had been completed during the rule of the Congress government and the assent of the governor was awaiting. Even if the BJP government tries to hide all these, the people of Manipur know the facts, he added.
He further stated that between Sardar Ballabhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi who was born in Gujarat, the world’s highest statue was erected for the former while the father of the nation, Mahatpa Gandhi has been kept ignored. The public wants to know the reason behind this, he said.
The state which required around Rs. 3500 crore is claimed by the BJP government as an achievement and this has led other developed nations to take resolutions not to provide funds anymore to India by considering that India has become rich. This has been unfortunate for all though making a statue of Ballabhai patel is commendable, he added.
While claiming that the public will teach BJP a lesson in the coming Lok Sabha Elections, he assured that Congress party will rule the government with Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister in the Centre. He also appealed the people to extend their support in making the congress stronger and successful.
He further said Heirok assembly constituency has been a stronghold of Congress party. But unfortunately, a different party came to power in the last elections, he added. However, many developmental works were carried out when the former MLA was the minister. The present MLA, though being a minister, has not done so much for the assembly constituency; the roadways of the assembly constituency are no longer motorable and developmental works are heading rather backwards, he added.
