Mother of sexually assaulted victim appeals for punishment of alleged perpetratorIMPHAL| Dec 10
The mother of a sexually assaulted victim has appealed the court to give punishment to the alleged perpetrator and all the supporters.
Addressing media personnel in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, the mother of the victim said that her daughter is only 16 years old and the incident happened while her daughter’s Class-X examination revision course was going on in routine. Her daughter was sent to the neighbouring house for revision course which also runs a boarding school, she added. In the meantime, her daughter had been assaulted many times by the boarding owner namely, Abojam Tombisana, 50, son of Abojam Thabal from Samurou Awang Leikai, she asserted.
She continued that she sent her daughter keeping trust on her daughter’s teacher that he will be able to make her better in studies. Meanwhile, she became suspicious after observing the unusual behaviour of her daughter and asked her daughter many times about the problem she is facing, she added. Later on, it was revealed that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by Tombisana, she said.
She continued that after knowing about the incident from her daughter, she went to Tombisana’s home and told about the incident to his mother. However, Tombisana’s mother asked for medical check-up and the medical check-up has been done, it came positive, she added.
In the meantime, elder brother of Tombisana sent him to jail to prevent from the arrest by police on charge on sexual assault.
A joint action committee (JAC) was also formed but there has been no co-operation from the JAC as the incident occurred in the same locality, said mother of the victim.
She also complained that an FIR had been lodged on September 27 but hearing of the case is still going on in the court. The alleged accused has many supporters including his family but on the other side, her daughter is in the condition of psychological problem, she added.
Her daughter is in trauma and looking her daughter’s condition as a mother, she is not able to stay at home, she said.
She appealed the authority concerned for justice at the earliest so as to give punishment to the alleged accused and the supporters.
