Kuki Inpi, CVOs serve ultimatum for safe release of Sekmai abducteesKANGPOKPI | Dec 9
Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi district and various other civil voluntary organisations including Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, Kuki Students’ Organisation Sadar Hills, Thadou Students’ Association Sadar Hills have served three days ultimatum to the abductors of Shivalaya Construction Co. Pvt. Ltd. employees from Sekmai for their safe release.
A well-armed suspected non-SoO Kuki militant group had allegedly kidnapped employees of Shivalaya Construction Co. Pvt. Ltd. identified as Bir Singh (40), son of Satbir of Haryana (supervisor), Ramji, 25, son of Kanhaiya of Uttar Pradesh (Machine Operator) and Dinesh Kumar Yadav, 30, son of Rajdeep Yadav of Uttar Pradesh (machine operator) who were engaged in construction works of National Highway 2 (Tendongyang to North AOC) on November 29 evening from their work site located at Sekmai Khwairakpam Kusong.
Despite of all efforts and appeal from various local bodies of Sekmai, the abducted employees were still held captive in their custody till today by the armed militant. The state government has deployed a colossal of commandos and army in Phailengkot area located around 4 Km from Motbung in Kangpokpi district for rescue operation since the past few days.
Owing to the deployment of heavy security forces, the local populaces have been reeling under intense frightful situation apart from facing tremendous hardships even if there was no complete restriction of public movement till date.
However, restriction of moving towards the hill for jhum cultivation provide apprehension to the people who were mostly farmers as they could not even venture out for collecting their jhum seasonal produces for selling in the market.
The local populaces are also worried if they fail to sell their products in time their hope of celebrating Christmas could be shatter since their main annual source of income solely depend upon the jhum cultivation products which is now the right time for collection.
After seriously considering all these public grievances of the Christmas celebrating community during the festive season and the sincere appeal of various local bodies of Sekmai, the Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District and various other CVOs had a joint inspection of the area today and take stock of the situation.
During the visit the Kuki Inpi and CVOs minutely examined and discussed the situation with the security forces and found that there is no untoward incident of public harassment upon to the innocent civilian on the part of security forces presently employed in the area occurred so far and appreciated the commendable service of the security forces. However, they came to know that considering the ground situation of the areas and most importantly the safety of the abducted employees, the local youths and villagers volunteers themselves while risking their own lives in searching the abductees day and night as they consider search operation by the security forces could be dangerous for the abducted employees. They also came across the public grievances in their helplessness to collect their cultivation products at the right time which could have ruin their hope and preparation of Christmas celebration out of the resources of their products.
After deeply considering the situation and the detrimental anti-social activities perpetrated by the armed militants, the Kuki Inpi and the CVOs decided to serve the three days ultimatum to the armed militant involved in the abduction of the three employees for their safe release.
It also warned that if the abducted employees are not released safe and sound without any condition on humanitarian ground, the people of Kangpokpi under the aegis of Kuki Inpi will not excuse such militant and initiate a mass search operation in the area.
Kuki Inpi and CVOs of Kangpokpi also strongly condemned the abduction of Shivalaya Construction Co. Pvt. Ltd. employees and termed the act as ‘detrimental tools in devastating peace and harmony among peace loving communities’ in the state and expressed its vigorous opposition such anti-social activities.
