Released students and teachers receive heroes’ welcome back
Speaking to media persons after their release, dean of school of Humanities, professor, Ch Yasobanta said that the action of the state forces inside the University was akin to breaking the spine of Manipur and he further said that coming out from the jail is the victory of their agitation.
Yasobanta said, “Pandey is a stupid guy and I do not like to call him as a professor, I want a cleansing of the university and develop the education in the university with the new administrator.”
Professor of Biotechnology, Sanjiv said, “Prof. Yugindro having us arrested on false allegations is a big mistake that took place in the history of Manipur and finally he realised that he was wrong. So, he withdrew the FIR.”
He further said they will support and cooperate with the two independent bodies in investigation.
Professor of Manipuri department, N. Sanatomba said, “We are grateful to all the student bodies who agitated demanding our release and I feel that the government has acted in a childish manner and the FIR was approved without verifying the facts.”
He added, “There has been fickle decisions taken by Yugindro and I feel that the system has been manipulated to secure our arrest.”
If such things happen again in the future, the trust in the government will vanish and the teachers are always ready to chalk out whatever difference there may be, in an amicable manner, he stated.
A.P Pandey should be thrown out of the university and now, the focus will be on restoring academic calendar by taking up the educational administration on a war footing, he added.
Cultural secretary of Manipur University Student Union (MUSU), Laishram Robindro said that September 21 will be observed as the black day of Manipur University and they will continue their agitation in a democratic way until and unless normalcy resumes.
President, Manipur Students Federation (MSF), Ngaryanbam Milan said that Yugindro cancelled his FIR without keeping any conditions for the sake of the society.
Later, the All Manipur Student’s Union, Manipur Students Federation, Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur, Kangleipak Students Association, Student Union of Kangleipak and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup organised a reception programme in lamyanba Shanglen for the ‘Professors and students of MU along with students leaders of different students bodies detained in Judicial custody.’
