State government will give all support to entrepreneurs: Biren
IMPHAL | Aug 8 : Chief minister, Nongthombam Biren Singh said the state government will encourage and give constant support to the entrepreneurs and start-ups in the state, while launching Manipur Startup Conclave 2018 today at City Convention Centre, Palace Compound.
He said the government will support those entrepreneurs who try to bring development to the state and promotion of state’s resources.
The Startup Manipur is a flagship programme under central government Startup India., intending to build a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and startups in the country that will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities.
It is the vision of the government to make Manipur one of the top startup destinations in the North East by providing the most enabling ecosystems to support and nurture startup entrepreneurship in the state.
The big day for entrepreneurs was organised by planning department.
Commenting on the current issues of the state, Biren said there is no state without problems or issues but no state has taken focus solely one problem and put the whole state to a standstill.
He made an appeal to all citizens of the state to refrain from imposing bandhs and blockades, as it not only affects the whole state but is also unconstitutional according to Supreme Court.
He also mentioned that the state government will consult the judiciary to amend a strict rule or law to punish the bandh impostor to be given befitting legal action.
Biren while stating that the state is moving forward, he invited the people of the state to translate ‘Sanaleibak’ into true sense. He also assured that the state government will restore peace and stability in the state and solve the many issues at the earliest.
He noted that his government has earlier promised of employment, and today’s startup is paving the way for self employment.
A total of 334 entrepreneurs were selected for which the government will give subsidy and support their feat. There are four startup categories, students startup, idea stage startup, women startup and revenue stage startup. During today’s function, 29 startups under revenue stage and women startup were given 30 percent subsidy to the total loan amount, and 200 startups under idea stage and 105 under entrepreneurship support scheme (ESS).
Bank of Baroda was the banking partner of the startup policy.
Deputy chief minister, Y. Joykumar also encouraged the gathering of entrepreneurs and said it is a historic moment for the state to be stepping into the next level of development. He elaborated that secondary sector in the state has always been left out with lack of resources and its landlocked location. But today the entrepreneurs has made use of the locally available resources and managed to make a living out of it, he added.
Council of ministers and MLAs, chief secretary, J. Suresh Babu and general manager of Bank of Baroda, Kolkata Zone, Ashim Kumar Panda attended the function as dignitaries.
