MUSU to disrupt monsoon session
IMPHAL | Jul 20 : Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) has announced it would disrupt the Manipur Legislative Assembly session which commenced today, contending that the House has failed to take a decision to resolve the ongoing Manipur University impasse.
Speaking to media persons today at MU campus MUSU president, Mayanglambam Dayaman, said a meeting was held this afternoon between MUSU’s representatives and other civil bodies of the state.
During the meeting, the civil bodies of the state including UCM, AMUCO, HERICON, IPSA, NIPCO, MEELAL and others had given their assurance to give full support in the agitation taken up by MUSU in their demand for removal of Pandey, he added.
Claiming that, four women, one youth and a student of the varsity were injured during yesterday’s ‘peaceful meira rally’ due to the violent action of the state force, he said and condemned the police action.
He lauded the support extended by the public, civil and student bodies during the 48 hours general strike which ended yesterday.
Asserting that boycotting schools in connection with the ongoing impasse of the varsity will give a negative impact on all the student’s community, he appealed not to boycott or shut down any schools.
MUSU appealed to the political parties of the state not to engage themselves in blame game against one another or take political mileage over the varsity crisis.
The student’s body claimed that the only solution to bring back normalcy in the varsity is only by removing Pandey from his post.
