Has India Really Been Rendered Free of Polio? - Part II
After I had a chance meeting with Dr. M. Khanna on 20 June 2015, a curiosity developed in my mind in the month of July, 2017 to obtain information about AFP (Acute Flaccid Paralysis) figures of all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. I believed that the number of victims affected by AFP would be greatly reduced as compared to before, especially in the district Udham Singh Nagar, there probably would have any AFP incident. That is why I telephoned World Health Organization’s Kumaun Branch office located at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand for seeking information in this regard. It provided me the desired information on 4th August 2017 through email.
Now, I had with me figures of AFP cases taking place in 2015, 2016 and in the first 30 weeks of 2017 in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. I felt surprised and agonized at observing that the entire state of Uttarakhand had 340 AFP cases in 2015, 390 in 2016, and 155 in the first 30 weeks of 2017. The most number of AFP cases were found to occur in the Haridwar district with 112 incidents in 2015, 156 in 2016 and 78 in the first 30 weeks of 2017. In Udham Singh Nagar district, there were 97 AFP cases in 2015, 120 in 2016 and 29 in the first 30 weeks of 2017. Whereas in the earlier years, there were 137 AFP cases in 2012, 135 in 2013 and merely 8 cases in 2014. These 8 cases of AFP had kindled a hope in me that in future the number of Acute Flaccid Paralysis cases would definitely be controlled. But this thinking of mine turned out to be false and now I feel that there is no possibility of AFP cases coming down in future also.
The above mentioned AFP figures have once again forced me to think and write here. With my simplicity and honesty, I had understood that the suggestions provided by me in the two articles of mine; “Polio or Traumatic Paralysis Eradication by 2010 A.D.” in English and “AkhirKabTak” in Hindi, would have been definitely taken note of by then Director General of the Health and Medical Service falling under the central government’s Health and Family Welfare Ministry and he/she would have definitely issued the necessary directives to the states in this regard. But such thinking of mine certainly turned out to be wrong.
Even in my main suggestions, I had not written anything which can be said wrong, because some Paediatricians owing to their medical knowledge do not inject the medicine into the muscles of upper arms and hips through a needle (IM). The reason for this is that from these muscles pass those main motor nerves which control the activities of the whole upper and lower limbs and while introducing medicine through needle (IM), there remains a possibility of these getting injured, due to which their control over the concerned muscles ceases and the muscles are unable to complete their contraction and relaxation activities. This is what we call paralysis of muscles. Due to this, the majority of Paediatricians instead of introducing medicine into the muscles of upper arm or hip through needle (IM) do it into the femoral muscle, because from this muscle no main motor nerve passes. During vaccination, this carefulness is being observed. This is a good thing, but the rest of physicians, compounders, nurses and quacks do not have this knowledge, which is the main reason for the high state of AFP incidents.
When I seriously pondered over this matter and thought that the suggestions sent by me were not wrong in any way, still Health and Medical Service’s top officials did not take them into consideration, might be due to I being basically an alternative medicine physician, which did not appeal to the concerned officials. That is why they felt it appropriate to forward the articles written by me intact to the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (C.C.R.H.), New Delhi.
If C.C.R.H., New Delhi would have been capable of implementing my suggestions all over the country, then I would have sent these articles directly to it, but I deliberately did not do so. Whatever, the concerned Director General and top officials associated with the Health and Family welfare Ministry at that time, instead of taking into notice and acting on the very important suggestions provided by me, chose to ignore them entirely. With their inaction, they have committed the sin of playing with the health of lakhs of children and have deliberately pushed them into the wildly growing class of lame people.
Actually, officials like these had started such attempt since 1949 A.D. as they started extensively promoting Salk Vaccine at first, then Sabin Vaccine and now Salk-Sabin in the name of eradication of polio infection through advertisements, which spread fear in the minds of simple minded people. The rate of AFP figures at the present time is approximately 50,000+ per year, which turns out to be a huge number of 4 to 5 crores till date. Because of getting information about the AFP figures related to the entire country, I came to know that in the year 2012, there occurred 59,436 cases, 53,421 cases in the year 2013 and 53,383 cases in the year 2014. According to top officials, among these cases none was found that involved Poliovirus hominis. According to them, all the incidents were caused by reasons other than polio virus hominis.
This is a very astonishing thing that in the entire country lakhs of children have been suffering from AFP and will keep on suffering like this. But instead of working towards their prevention, W.H.O. is more concerned about telling the difference between AFP caused by polio virus and the AFP caused by non-polio reasons. Infact till date the involvement of Polio virus in AFP incidences has never been established. The involvement of polio virus is just a ploy in the name of promoting consumption of Salk and Sabin vaccines and it is thought important to carry on further with these in the name of polio eradication program, otherwise, this grave looking problem would have been solved much earlier.
Still, in the year 2014 World Health Organization’s South East Asia regional certification commission for polio eradication which also includes India, has declared the South East Asia region polio free. In the name of polio eradication, a big lie, cheating and betrayal is being committed on our own countrymen by the top officials and politicians of our country and they will keep on committing it in this way in the future also. In this way, AFP in other words the so called polio paralysis can never be eradicated. There can be no second thought on this, I feel so.
