School materials distributed
IMPHAL | Jun 12 : The distribution program of school shoes and low cost teaching learning materials was held today at the state project office, Sarva Shishak Abhiyan(SSA), Babupara Imphal.
Delivering his speech as chief guest, education minister, Th. Radheshyam Singh congratulated all the staffs and officials working in education department for their brilliant initiatives and their hard work in bringing this project into reality.
He further stated that education department is becoming a happening department in our state as we can see great improvement in the recent X and XII exams comparing to previous year. If we put some more effort, our student may get position in board examinations, he added.
“We have to set a target to get position by our student and it can achieve only when the teacher give continuous dedication,” he suggested.
He encourages the teachers to work harder in the future by giving an exemplary life to the students and also bring creative and innovative idea in the teaching-learning process and make school a place of attraction rather than a place of hatred.
Speaking as president of today’s function, Th. Kirankumar Singh, who is director of department of education said there is a provision of providing two set of school uniform to student studying in government but shoes are excluded and as a result students suffered more in winter and rainy season.
Considering the inconveniences face by the students, the teachers and employees in education department voluntarily contributed to provide free shoes to students.
They also tied up with the firm from Manipur who is manufacturing shoes at a very low cost of Rs. 190 per pair of shoes. So far they have collected Rs. 24 lakhs in the first phase and more contribution is expected.
He also said 600 voluntary teachers have taken various initiatives at their own level by providing low-cost items in order to facilitate children.
Principal secretary of education department, V. Vumlunmang was also attended as guest of honour of the function.
