Shyamkumar’s son released on bail
IMPHAL | Jun 11 : The chief judicial magistrate, Imphal west today released MAHUD minister, Th Shyamkumar’s son on bail with PR bond of Rs. 1 lakh along with two sureties, in connection with the hit and run case of MG Avenue injuring two cops.
The minister’s son, Thounajam Satyajit was arrested in the afternoon June 8 in front of his father’s quarter after a police chased him for hitting two security personnel by his vehicle, who were conducting frisking at MG Avenue.
After completing his three days police remand he was produced before the court and the court has registered Cirl misc bail case and heard the submission of the assistant public prosecutor of the state and the defense counsel.
The investigating officer (IO) of the case submitted that during the course of investigation, Satyajit has admitted to have committed the crime by breaking the police barricade thereby deter public servant from discharging lawful duty.
He further submitted that a prime facie case is well established against the level section of law so detention of the accused behind the bar is invariably required.
On the other hand the counsel of the minister’s son filed remand prayer objection and bail application before the court.
After hearing from both the parties, court found reasonable ground to release the accused on furnishing a bail bond of Rs.1 lakh with two sureties, who should be government employees.
The court also directed that the accused should not leave the state without the permission of the court and he shall not do anything similar to the offence he is charged in the case.
Further directing not to do anything that will hamper or temper the case during investigation by the IO the court fixed June 25 for the next hearing.
On June 8 afternoon at around 2.20 commando team of Bazar unit, Imphal West while conducting their normal frisking checking near Delhi Motor, one Honda City car with registration number MN01-G-0523 black in colour with black tinted glass, driven by the minister’s son was asked to stop for checking under security measures.
Instead of stopping his car knocked down the police personnel who tried to stop the vehicle and fled towards the northern side of Kanglapat. Later after a hot chase Satyajit was over powered and detained along with the vehicle. Later he was handed to city police station.
