CM and transport department deny decision to ban diesel auto
IMPHAL | May 14 : “The government never passed any order that diesel autos have to stop plying, I am surprised by the reaction of the drivers,” said chief minister N. Biren Singh. He further said the 48 hour diesel auto-rickshaw strike as unwarranted and putting the bullock card before the bull.
“There was a discussion from concerned departments of the rising pollution both in emission and sound from the diesel autos and there was a resolution that we need to survey the situation, but there is no immediate ban and we were thinking of working out amicable logistics only”, said the chief minister.
Biren said he will act as per the public sentiments. “Strike or no strike, if the public feels that certain action is required, then we will proceed,” he hinted. Biren requested all organisations from imposing any sort of dictate which may affect the normalcy of the state and warned of taking up legal action if needed.

To formulate a concrete module for carrying out the above surveys with requisite quantum of manpower and resources behind the time frame of three months from the date of constitution of the committee and to formulate a sustainable multi modal transit corridor at 12 different designated locations for smooth integration, continued the director.
