NFSA card holders of Ukhrul to carry out rally on April 20
UKHRUL | Apr 15 : National Food Security Act (NFSA) Ration card holders of Ukhrul district will carry out a rally on April 20 against non-release of the quantum quantity for the month of February and March 2018 and the rally will be spearheaded by Tangkhul Civil Society Organisations.
Regarding the issue, lengthy discussion was carried out in a joint coordination meeting, attended by Tangkhul Naga Long, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Tangkhul Shanao Long, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, chairman of 4 Longphang and FPS Agents Association Ukhrul District held at TNL Office on April 14. The meeting has resolved to organise the rally.
President of TNL, Weapon Zimik informed that if the authority concerned fails to release the NFSA rice for two months in full payment before April 20, the card holders of NFSA of Ukhrul district will stage a rally and will also surrender the NFSA card. He added that the rice for ration under NFSA is meant for Ukhrul district and it should be deposited at FCI Ukhrul by the respective FPS agent and not at other places.
It may be mentioned that on March 22, a joint application was submitted to deputy commissioner of Ukhrul for immediate intervention signed by convenor or nominee of Phungyar, Ukhrul and Chingai assembly constituencies. Since there was no response from the authority concerned, another ultimatum was submitted to the DC on April 9, demanding release and allotment of rice quota before April 13. The ultimatum also mentioned that democratic agitation will be taken up if the authority concerned fails to address the grievances. Accordingly TNL had also given out press note in support of the demand.
As per reliable sources, release orders for lifting of NFSA rice for Ukhrul district has been issued till April 2018. However, the card holders are yet to get their due share for the month of February and March.
