Two drug dealers from Manipur arrested in Nagaland

Drugs worth Rs 20 lakh was seized from the two persons arrested by the Nagaland Police in Nagaland on Friday.

Two persons from Manipur have been arrested in Nagaland for carrying suspected banned drug worth around Rs 20 lakh and a case has been registered, sources said.

According to Nagaland Police, based on specific input, Nagaland Police personnel of the Narcotic Cell Mobile Unit intercepted a Guwahati-bound vehicle (Renault Duster), which was coming from Imphal, near Peducha in Kohima at around 1 am Friday. 

A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 100,000 (one lakh) suspected Yaba tablets (WY), neatly wrapped with yellow tape in 10 different packets containing 10,000 tablets each, and concealed inside a specially built compartment near the spare tyre, the police also said.

According to the police, an approximate value of the recovered items is around Rs 20 lakh. The suspected contraband items were duly seized and two occupants of the vehicle namely David Jamkholun Baite (27 years) and Thongminthang (31 years) were arrested. Both of them are residents of Tengnoupal district of Manipur, the police added. 

A case, vide Narcotic Cell Police Station Case No.04/2022 U/S 22 (c)/60 NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, the police added.
