The NSCN-IM on Thursday said the talks between the leaders of the organization and Government of India interlocutor, AK Mishra was ‘positive’. The NSCN-IM, however, did not divulge details of the talks.
“The outcome of today’s talk between us and the Government of India representative is considered positive,” an NSCN-IM leader told Newmai News Network after the talk.
Today’s talks between the NSCN-IM leaders and the Government of India interlocutor was held at Police Complex, Chumoukedima near Dimapur for nearly three hours starting from 11 am.
According to sources, 24 NSCN-IM leaders led by Thuingaleng Muivah participated in today’s talk. When asked about the next round of talks, the sources said that no date has been fixed as yet.
“However, since today’s talk outcome is quite encouraging we will definitely hold the talks soon,” the sources stated.
Government of India interlocutor AK Mishra arrived in Dimapur on April 12 for the talks.
Meanwhile, it has been after a long hiatus that the NSCN-IM leaders have said the “talk is positive”.
It can be noted here that for quite a while the talks between the NSCN-IM and the Government of India could not be resumed due to differences on the issue of ‘Naga flag’ and ‘Naga constitution’. But today’s talk outcome, considered by the NSCN-IM as ‘positive’, has changed the atmosphere.
