Leader of the Legislature Party of Naga People's Front (NPF) and co-chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu on Tuesday claimed that NPF is the only political party that is keeping alive the Naga political issue.
Speaking at the Peren town hall during the party’s re-organization of Peren division of the party, the NPF leader said that the party is not a party that chases after power or position but stands for the cause of the Naga people and their welfare as priorities.
He also said that NPF does not belong or is controlled by any individual or leader but the party belongs to the Naga people.
The NPF leader also stated that since the party is deeply rooted to the Naga society, with or without its representative in the Nagaland State Assembly, the NPF party will exist and continue to work for the Naga people and their well-being. He added that though 21 MLAs of the party had defected to NDPP, the grassroot of the party is still intact.
Azo Nienu also maintained that major political parties such as BJP may have their roots at the national level of India but they have no roots in Nagaland. He added that the NDPP's existence was only in the initial period in the Naga society. "Therefore, NPF signifies the only viable political party that is surviving and battling for the true cause of the Naga people," he added.
Azo Nienu is confident that NPF will form the next government in Nagaland.
Achumbemo Kikon who is the secretary general of NPF, while reiterating that the party belongs to the entire Naga people, has stated that Naga people should take the privilege to be a part of the NPF party.
He also mentioned that NPF has given a platform for the Nagas to be united under the party and thus the party has given the Nagas an opportunity to express the Naga nationalism.
The NPF secretary general then called upon the people to take the responsibility to push forward the NPF for the better future of the Naga people.
