NEIPF annual conference presents ‘Diphupar Declaration’

The Diphupar Declaration decided to draw the attention of the Northeast states to address the interstate boundaries with utmost care and urge to give preference to the indigenous peoples in the settlement.

The second Annual Conference of the North East Indigenous People's Forum (NEIPF) hosted by Nagaland Indigenous People's Forum (NIPF) held at Diphupar, Chumukedima presented to the people of the north eastern states the “Diphupar Declaration”.

The conference which concluded on Saturday also formed a new executive body of NEIPF with Anup Chetia as chairman; Lima Jamir and Tage Lapung as vice-chairmen and N Ibungochoubi as general secretary, said a joint release issued by NEIPF and NIPF.

It stated that the "Diphupar Declaration", consisting of four articles, was presented following the deliberations from the delegates, resource persons, scholars, intellectuals and representatives of various organizations.

As per the declaration, the NEIPF resolved to continuously thrive for the creation of a conducive atmosphere for the indigenous peoples of the Northeast states for sharing common interest and issues, the release mentioned.

It also includes making an endeavour in the pursuit of preserving indigenous traditional values and cultural practices, it stated.

It also stated that the NEIPF also demands assurance for ensuring and making the indigenous people a stakeholder in every decision concerning the people and the land.
