The total number of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland rose to four on Tuesday as one more Chennai returnee tested positive for the virus in Kohima.
State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom took to Twitter and said contact tracing were being activated.
"Another returnee from Chennai has been tested COVID19 +ve at Kohima. With this, we have 4 active cases. Contact tracing are being activated. #StayHome, StaySafe," the minister tweeted.
The health minister urged the people to stay positive and fight the pandemic together while adding that positive case was expected when the state decided to bring all stranded people of the state.
"The +ve case of COVID19 was anticipated. We knew that this deadly virus will not spare our state when we decided to bring all returnees back. Let us stay positive and fight this Pandemic together. Do not discriminate the front line workers & do not panic because together we can," the minister said in another tweet.
On Monday, three persons who returned from Chennai, Tamil Nadu by a Shramik Special Train tested positive for the virus. Of the three cases reported on Monday, two were from Dimapur and one from Kohima.
As many as 1,328 stranded people returned to the state by train on May 22.
On April 12, a 33-year-old businessman from Dimapur, tested positive for COVID-19 but he was added to Assam’s tally as he was tested and treated at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Assam.
