Nine more Chennai returnees tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagaland taking the total number of cases in the state to 18. Of the new cases, Dimapur reported six cases and Tuensang three case, state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said in a tweet.
“9 more tested COVID19 positive case. All returnees from Chennai. 6 from Dimapur, 3 from Tuensang. With this, Nagaland as on 28/05/2020 stand with 18 +ve cases,” the minister tweeted.
All COVID-19 confirmed cases reported in the state are Chennai returnees.
Nagaland reported its first COVID-19 cases on May 25 after three persons who returned from Chennai, Tamil Nadu by a Shramik Special Train tested positive for the virus. Of the first three cases, two were from Dimapur and one from Kohima.
As many as 1,328 stranded people returned to the state by train on May 22.
On April 12, a 33-year-old businessman from Dimapur, tested positive for COVID-19 but he was added to Assam’s tally as he was tested and treated at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Assam.
