Nagaland Elections 2023: Voting underway in 59 constituencies

A total of 13,16,064 electorate will decide the fate of 183 candidates, including four women candidates in the Nagaland Assembly elections 2023.

Voting for the general elections to Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023 is underway in 59 constituencies and the state has recorded 73 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm. The polling which began at 7 am will continue till 4 pm.

A total of 13,16,064 electorate will decide the fate of 183 candidates, including four women candidates in the Nagaland Assembly elections 2023.

Twelve political parties are contesting in the ongoing elections with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)  contesting in 40 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 20 seats, Naga People’s Front (NPF) in 22, Congress in 23, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 12, Naga People's Party (NPP) 12, LJP( Ram Vilas) in 15, Republican Party of India (Athawale) is contesting in nine seats, Janata Dal-United JD(U) in seven, Rashtriya Janata Dal in three, and Rising People’s Party and CPI in one each.

Nineteen Independents candidates are contesting in the state Assembly elections. Counting of votes will be conducted on March 2. The term of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly will end on March 12.
