Man from Manipur arrested; drugs worth Rs 1.8 crore seized in Kohima

The Narcotic Cell, Nagaland seized 50 soap cases containing suspected heroin powder from a man from Manipur in Kohima on February 27.

Personnel of the Narcotic Cell Police Station, CID, manning the Narcotic Check Point at Khuzama under Kohima district in Nagaland arrested one person from Manipur and seized drugs worth Rs 1.8 crore from his possession on February 27, sources said.

The incident took place when personnel of the Narcotic Cell Police Station stopped a vehicle for routine checking at around 1 pm on on February 27, Nagaland police said.

Police said a search of the vehicle and the occupant resulted in the seizure of 50 soap cases of suspected heroin powder weighing approximately 600 grams worth approximately Rs 1.8 crore in the illicit global market.

One person identified as Lenminthang under Motbung police station, Manipur, was arrested in this connection, according to the police.

In this connection, a case vide Narcotic Cell PS Case No. 003/2022 U/S 21 (C)/ 60 NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, the police added.
