A 10-member troupe from the internationally acclaimed music group Rhythms of Manipur performed at the third Festival of India, Namaste Vietnam, on Sunday.
The festival is scheduled from August 25 to 27 at three different locations in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh, Madan Mohan Sethi, extended an invitation to Rhythms of Manipur to perform during the festival, which was organized by the Indian Consulate to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic relations through various activities.
The group showcased several musical numbers, including the national award-winning fusion music composition "The Dancing Drummers" and the state song "Sana Leibak Manipur," over the three days of the festival.
At the inaugural function of the festival, held at Rex Hotel Saigon, Rhythms of Manipur presented a twenty-minute music composition.
Rajkumar Sanatomba Singh, the founder and secretary of the group, led the troupe.
The Ho Chi Minh tour marked the eighth international tour of Rhythms of Manipur. Previously, they successfully toured Hong Kong and Singapore in 2013, Port of Spain in 2017, Laos also in 2017, Surin, Thailand in 2018, Bangkok in 2022, and Kyoto, Japan also in 2022.
In addition to their successful international tours, the group has won two Doordarshan national awards for its productions, "Journey" and "Dancing Drummers." The group, consisting of five male and five female artists, left Imphal for Ho Chi Minh on August 23 and will return on August 29.
