‘Use Me’ director grabs international award

Manipuri film maker Rakesh Naorem's film ‘Use Me’ was among the top 5 in  the Indian Film Category out of 1400 submissions from 70 countries.

Manipuri film maker Rakesh Naorem has received the best short film director award at the 5th Roshani International Film Festival 2024 for his three-minute Manipuri short film ‘Use Me’ on Sunday at the Moulana Azad Research Centre, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Aurangabad, Auditorium in Mumbai.

The award ceremony was organised by film education and welfare foundation, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The film was among the top 5 in  the Indian Film Category out of 1400 submissions from 70 countries.

The short film was directed by Rakesh Naorem, storywriter Huidrom Sureshkumar and Rakesh Naorem.

Huidrom Marlin, Rakesh Naorem, Laishram Bijayalakshmi, Moirangthem Oken and Priyanka were the casts of this film. The cinematographer of this film is Nagindra and editor Romi Lamabam.

The film emphasised the importance of safeguarding the environment and protecting the rivers as the lifeline of human existence.

It may be recalled that Rakesh Naorem has directed two short films ‘Lingjel’ and ‘Lupa 20’. He produced more than 30 manipuri music video albums.

Rakesh Naorem is the youngest son of Naorem Chaoba and Naorem (O) Borni hails from Tentha Khongbal in Thoubal District. He married Irengbam Ningol Naorem (O) Romila and has two daughters.

IPAK Film Production also expressed their gratitude to Rakesh Naorem for receiving the prestigious award.
