Shanmughadas conferred with Satyajit Ray Memorial Award 2022

The "FIPRESCI-India Satyajit Ray Memorial Award 2022" would be handed over to Shanmughadas in a programme to be organised physically soon, aid FIPRESCI-India in a release.

The Satyajit Ray Memorial Award 2022 of FIPRESCI-India was conferred to Kerala's veteran author and critic Professor I Shanmughadas. 

The award was given on Satyajit Ray's birthday to acknowledge a person's outstanding contributions to writing on cinema (books, essays, articles, discourses) in any Indian language (including English) for propagation of film culture which was Ray's primary area of concern, said FIPRESCI-India in a release.

Ray started his journey in the field of cinema as a writer and performed his role as an author very seriously throughout his life by writing on cinema both in English and Bengali, it said adding the first recipient of the award (in 2021) was Aruna Vasudev. 

The "FIPRESCI-India Satyajit Ray Memorial Award 2022" would be handed over to Shanmughadas in a programme to be organised physically as soon as possible, it added.
