Manipur Cinema Golden Jubilee celebration continues

MSFDS stated that though the year-long golden jubilee celebration which began on April 13, 2021 had to be put on hold for some time due to the pandemic, the celebration will be continued with the Cinematography Lab aimed at up-scaling skills of cinematographers.

The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) announced that it will continue the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Manipur Cinema with the ‘six-day Cinematography Lab’ funded by Manipur State Film and Television Institute, MSFTI at MSFDS, Palace Gate from Saturday.

In a release, MSFDS stated that though the year-long golden jubilee celebration which began on April 13, 2021 had to be put on hold for some time due to the pandemic, the celebration will be continued with the Cinematography Lab aimed at up-scaling skills of cinematographers.

On the first day of the workshop in which members of cinematographers' guild, filmmakers and cinematography enthusiasts, including two cinematographers from Ukhrul district participated, acclaimed cinematographer and filmmaker Mazhar Kamran, of the ‘Satya’ and ‘Mohandas’ fame, briefly shared his cinematic journey, it stated.

Speaking on the occasion, MSFTI director Nilotpal Majumdar expressed his contentment in the return of the golden jubilee celebration after the hiatus, and urged the participants to take maximum benefit out of the workshop, it further stated.

Stating that the technical session and hands-on training for the workshop will commence from the following day, MSFDS continued that besides the Cinematography Lab, MSFDS will organise ‘Edit Lab, Building narratives: Shot by Shot’ from April 4 to 8. FTII alumnus Pankaj Rishi Kumar will be the resource person, it stated.

The winding up of the Golden Jubilee celebration will witness the  '1st Eikhoigi Imphal International Film Festival'  scheduled from April 2 to 6, in which internationally acclaimed short, documentary and fiction films will be screened during the festival, it added.
