Will ensure no district is left behind in Meghalaya’s growth story: CM Conrad Sangma

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday said that the NPP-led MDA government is working to ensure that no district is left behind in the state’s growth story.

The chief minister made the remark as he inaugurated the 7.5 MW Unit of the 22.5 Mega Watt Ganol Hydro Power Project, a part of the first hydro power project of Garo Hills region on Wednesday.

"Inaugurated the 7.5 MW Unit of the 22.5 Mega Watt Ganol Hydro Power Project today. This unit is part of the first hydro power project of Garo Hills region that was left pending since 2014. Happy to see the entire project nearing completion," CM Sangma tweeted.

The chief minister expressed hope that with the commissioning of the Ganol Hydro Power Project, peak electricity demands would be met.  

"Power generation has been a hurdle in Garo Hills region especially during dry winter months. The commissioning of the Ganol Hydro Power Project will largely meet the peak electricity demands and is a step closer towards self-sufficiency in power generation. I congratulate the Power Department, team MeECL and everyone who are working hard to complete this historic project. I dedicate it to the people," the chief minister posted on Twitter.

The 22.5 Mega Watt Ganol Hydro Power Project will proudly stand tall as Garo Hills’ 1st Hydro Power Project, putting Garo Hills in the power generation map of India, CM Sangma said in another tweet.

CM Sangma further said that the NPP-led MDA government has accorded the highest-ever budget allocation in the history of Garo Hills. The government is working to ensure no district is left behind from Meghalaya’s growth story, he said.

"The NPP-led MDA Govt has accorded the highest-ever budget allocation in the history of Garo Hills. We are committed to the growth of the region and to keep it at par with other regions of Meghalaya. We are working to ensure no District is left behind from Meghalaya’s growth story," the CM tweeted.

The Meghalaya chief minister maintained that the NPP-led MDA government is finishing its first term stronger through its mission-focused and inclusive governance as committed to the people.

"The NPP-led MDA Govt. keeping its commitment to the people can proudly say is finishing its 1st term stronger through its mission-focused & inclusive governance. We have miles to go but we are paving the way for development & we will continue with the blessings of our people," CM Sangma said in another tweet.
