“It is not the politics, it is the policies. They have seen the work that has been done, they have seen the kind of efforts that this government has made and those who say that they have come for politics are wrong,” Sangma said while replying to the budget discussion in the Assembly in Shillong.

Thanking them for strengthening the mandate of the MDA government, he said, “They are not doing it in the interest of the power, they have not come for politics, it is for policies and for the people that they have come in.”

“I thank them for believing in this government and for supporting the endeavor of this government to continuously serve the people and to find solutions to the problems that we are facing,” Sangma added.

The five Congress legislators – Ampareen Lyngdoh (East Shillong), Mayral Born Syiem (Nongpoh), PT Sawkmie (Mawlai), Kimfa S Marbaniang (Rambrai-Jyrngam) and Mohendro Rapsang (West Shillong) – have been put under suspension for supporting the MDA government, which is backed by the BJP.
