Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday inaugurated the the Viewing Deck and the Nok•Achik adjacent to the Nokrek National Park at Darebokgre. The Viewing Deck and the Nok•Achik were inaugurated under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the chief minister said.
While Viewing Deck offers a panoramic view of the landscape around Nokrek which is the highest peak in the Garo Hills range, the Nok•Achik is a traditional house of the Garo tribe constructed in traditional Garo architectural design and can be seen next to the viewing deck.
"Under Swadesh Darshan Scheme we inaugurated the Viewing Deck & the Nok•Achik adjacent to the Nokrek National Park at Darebokgre. The Viewing Deck offers a panoramic view of the landscape around Nokrek which is the highest peak in the Garo Hills range The Nok•Achik constructed in traditional Garo architectural design is a traditional house of the Garo tribe and can be seen next to the viewing deck," CM Conrad Sangma posted on Twitter.
Earlier in the day, the chief minister also inaugurated two road projects leading up to the foothills of the Nokrek Peak- Sasatgre to Sakal A’duma road and the Sasatgre to Darebokgre road.
"The road starting from Sasatgre connecting Sakal A'duma and Darebokgre connects key tourist spots and with the convenience brought through these two roads, tourism in the area will flourish," the chief minister said in a tweet.
