Independent Inquiry Committee Report on Meghalaya Energy Corporation submitted to CM Conrad K Sangma

An Independent Inquiry Committee to probe into the alleged irregularities in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) was set up on July 29, 2021.

The Independent Inquiry Committee has submitted its report into the alleged irregularities in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL). The report was handed over to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The committee headed by retired Justice RN Mishra was constituted on July 29, 2021.

The committee was to inquire into, record findings and make recommendations concerning the procurement, AT&C losses human resources management aspects of the functioning of MeECL, and its three subsidiary companies viz., Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Ltd (MPPGCL), Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (MePTCL) and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (MePDCL).

“The Committee after looking into relevant records, visiting MeECL offices and holding interaction meetings with its staff has come up with a report on all aspects referred to the Committee by the Government of Meghalaya. A copy of the report is enclosed,” the Chairman of the committee wrote in the forwarding letter addressed to the chief minister.
