In a first in Northeast, Meghalaya has launched Drone Delivery for Health at Jengjal Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The health drones will deliver medicines to rural health facilities within a 50 km radius, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said.
"North East’s 1st Drone Delivery for Health launched at Jengjal Sub-Divisional Hospital today. Ensuring last mile medical deliveries, the drones will deliver medicines to rural health facilities within a 50km radius. Congratulations to the team!" Sangma tweeted on Monday.
Owing to the hilly and difficult terrain, often several people living in rural areas in Northeastern region are unable to access medical aid and facilities in time. Hence, drone delivery for health is likely to boost the health sector in Meghalaya.
