The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) on Friday urged the public to maintain thoughtfulness, honest disposition and peaceful environment during the election in order to avert and refrain from causing detrimental elements.
In a release signed by chief secretary Namthuijin Gonmei, ZUF raised concern that the approaching 12th Manipur Legislative General Assembly election is deemed "controversial and contradicting to normal, social and ethical life of the public."
Common sense says that morality should run and rule over all political circumstances and developmental aspects of the society, ZUF stated.
Greed-based politics or party-based and biased feeling among the general public and communities during election often creates much harm and hurt leaving behind scars of wounded feeling and spoiled relation, it stated. The fact is causing a destructive social environment and puts the whole society at chaos and commotion all around, it added.
ZUF further appealed to avoid or greed-based interests and public violence in any manner in the society. No alcoholic or money-related commotion or violence should be allowed to occur in the society, it stated. No party leaders or members or candidates should project or use controversial and provocative language in the election campaign or media messages, ZUF further stated. All civic citizens and leaders should practice and exercise a high sense of morality, honesty and truthfulness in campaigning for electing the right representative leaders, it continued.
Any party or members of any political party if found violating or non-compliance to this notification shall be dealt with stringent action, ZUF stated.
This information is served as final for strict adherence and intended to promote and prevail peaceful and fair election in the interest of the public, the state and all concerned, it added.
