The Zeme Naga Council Manipur, led a team of Zeme CSOs in inspecting the ongoing construction sites of NH-137 in Tamenglong district.
During the visit, the team met with construction agencies and advised them to maintain high-quality work with sincerity.
They urged the companies to always deploy sufficient machinery and manpower to ensure speedy progress during the limited workable seasons. The team held a productive consultative meeting with Tousem Village Authority and Mandeu Village Authority.
The meeting attendees unanimously expressed their support, firmly deciding that any developmental projects aimed at improving the well-being of the Tousem area people are welcomed and appreciated. Specifically, they emphasised that the ongoing construction of NH 137 should be completed on time without any disturbances within the Zeme jurisdiction.
The Zeme CSO leaders expressed deep concern towards any development projects implemented in Zeme areas and stressed that no project can proceed without the permission and consent of the stakeholders.
They reiterated sympathy for the marginalized people of Tousem Sub-division, highlighting the urgent need for improved road connectivity and functioning of headquarters offices to enhance the living conditions of the people covering vast geographical areas.
Further, the CSO leaders highlighted the need to improve primary schools and foster the children. They call for unity as the most important ingredient for the community, and that road connectivity is the key to bring people together.
