Yuva Puraskar 2020 conferred on Rameshwor Sarungbam

The prestigious award has been conferred to him for his second literary poetry book ‘Kairaba Chaphu Machet’.

Rameshwor Sarungbam, a young writer from Manipur, has been awarded Yuva Puraskar 2020 for Manipuri language on Sunday at a solemn function held at Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhaban, Bangalore, organised by Sahitya Akademy, New Delhi.

The Yuva Puraskar, also known as Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, is a literary honour in India which Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Letters, annually confers to young writers under the age of 35 years and below of outstanding works in one of the 24 major Indian languages.

Rameshwor hails from Yairipok  Bishnunaha Siphai Leikai, Thoubal district.  The prestigious award has been conferred to him for his second literary poetry book ‘Kairaba Chaphu Machet’.

He has been bestowed with several awards and honours in the past including Arambam Ibungohal and Binodkumari Literary Award 2014 by Patriotic Writers Forum, Manipur.

The Cultural Forum Manipur also conferred him Lairellakpam Dharamvir Literary Award 2020 for Young Creative Writers 35 years, Thokchom Jogendra Ningsing Sel Gi Mana 2020 by Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal and Haobam Sanajaoba (Haoba) Ningsing Loinasillon Mana 2021 by Kangleipak Loina Sillon Apunba Marup.
