Young Paite Association honours tribal martyrs

Patriotic songs were sung at the event which was attended by families of the nine tribal martyrs who died during the Anti tribal Bills protest in 2015 as well as families of  more than 200 tribals who were martyred in the recent Manipur violence.

The Young Paite Association, general headquarters on Sunday organised a programme to remember the tribal martyrs who laid down their lives in the protest against the ‘3 Anti Tribal Bills’ in 2015 during the then Congress-led government in Manipur.

The event also remembered the tribal lives lost in the conflict following the May 3 incident, resulting from the policies of the BJP-led government of Manipur.  

The event was held at the hall of YPA general headquarters and saw the participation of people from all communities. It was held at 1.30 pm after a sit-in protest organised by the JSB with support from the YPA concluded.

Patriotic songs were sung at the event which was attended by families of the nine tribal martyrs who died during the Anti tribal Bills protest in 2015 as well as families of  more than 200 tribals who were martyred in the recent Manipur violence.  Wreaths were placed in front of the portrait of all the  tribal  martyrs.

On the occasion different communities of the Churachandpur made their presence.  

YPA president Lianmuanthang Valte calledl for unity among all the Zo descendents which is the only way forward. He also requested all people to desist from spreading rumors, stating that they all have a common goal.
