With a vision to reach out to the womenfolk who are in the far flung hill areas, a one-day training workshop on ‘Women Empowerment through Agri-Allied Farming’ was held at the Community Hall of Haochong Village, Haochong Block in Noney district.
The workshop was jointly organised by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and Haochong Farmer Producer Co. Ltd
The programme was attended by Thumplip Tiningpham Monsang, chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women; Chuongsin Koireng, member Manipur State Commission for Women; James Pani, SDO/BDO Haochong; Guijonang Bariamtak, Board of Director Haochong Farmer Producer Company Limited and Napoleon Shaiza, project executive for CBBO under Central Agricultural University.
The programme was organised with a vision to reach out to the unreached, grassroot womenfolk who are in the far flung hill areas and educate them on current scientific technology to help them improve their traditional farming and produce more for sustainable economic life. It was also with an aim to empower them so that they may come up equally and participate socially, economically and politically in the future.
Resource persons and experts from various sectors spoke on different topics during the technical season.
During the technical session, Ramas Riamei, Manager, SBI, Noney, spoke on financial literacy awareness; District Horticulture Officer, Noney spoke on Commercial Horticulture farming; Dr Poulinliu Gonmei, District Vet. Officer, Noney spoke on Livestock Vaccination and Insurance; District Agriculture Officer, Noney spoke on Scientific farming of Agriculture; manager Canara Bank, Noney spoke on Schemes & Provisions from Bank; Elvis Phaomei, Manager MRB, Noney spoke on Saving Habits in Banks; SMS, KVK, Tamenglong/Noney spoke on Integrated Farming System.
