With the objective to boost capacity building of MIS (Management Information System) coordinators in the Northeastern states, the 45th Regional Workshop on Training Capacity Building of State and District MIS Coordinators was kicked off on Thursday.

The two-day workshop is organised by the Samagra Shiksha Manipur and the department of School Education and Literacy under the Education Ministry.

Speaking during the inaugural function of the workshop, commissioner of Education (S) H Gyan Prakash highlighted the importance of the Unified District Information System For Education Plus (UDISE Plus) for overall development of the education system.

He elaborated that UDISE Plus is used to collect school details through an online Data Collection Form (DCF) by encompassing information related to school profile, physical infrastructure, financial support, teachers, enrolments, examination results and other curriculum.

The UDISE Plus is expected to help in better educational planning, optimised resource allocation and real time monitoring so that education level in the country improves, he said, adding that the information will help in implementation of various education-related programmes and assessment of progress made.

Once the parameters are measured and evaluated, the government can improve monitoring, measurement and tracking of vital key performance indicators related to the school, he said.

Moreover, the data available will empower stakeholders to access and analyse information so that they can take evidence-based decisions, the commissioner added.

He further pointed out that the information, collected in such details, not only helps as stated earlier but also helps in identifying factors affecting school performances.

Stating that the DCF 2022-23 of UDISE Plus has been modified to incorporate NEP 2020 recommendations, monitor Samagra Shiksha Scheme and few Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at school level, he said that the objective of the workshop is to familiarise the coordinators in view of these changes.

Stressing the need to derive the desired results so that the data quality and uniformity is maintained, Prakash called on the coordinators to pay due attention during the technical session of the workshop.

During the first day of the workshop, the resource persons also shared their knowledge on Key Performance Indicators for Planning and Programme Implementation, concepts of Performance Grading Index (PGI) for state and district.

As many as 120 MIS coordinators from all the eight North Eastern states are participating in the workshop.
