Demanding exemplary action against the culprit(s) involved in the killing of one L Bidya alias Devia, womenfolk of Thangmeiband under the aegis of RKC Club on Wednesday staged a sit-in protest at the market shed of Khoyathong in Imphal West.
Devia, wife of one L Rokey, was found hanging in the bedroom of her house at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai on April 22 in a suspicious manner with multiple bruise marks on her body, as per report.

The protesters held placards which read, “Murderer cannot reside at our locality”, “Don’t support the murderers” and “Will stand for Justice” among others.
Women wing president of RKC Club, Ng Pramo, speaking to the media, expressed strong condemnation against such brutal killing.
The government should reward benefitting punishment against all the culprits involved in the well-planned murder, she said, adding that the people of Thangmeiband will support each and every step taken up by the JAC formed against the killing in demanding justice for Devia.
She also drew the attention of the chief minister to assure that such an incident does never happen in any part of the state.
