A team of Manipur police assisted by women commando arrested one woman cadre of proscribed underground organisation PREPAK (Pro) at around 7.45 am from Keirak Tomal Makhong near Thoibisana Service Station, Kakching district on Thursday.
The arrested person has been identified as one Nemneilhing Haokip alias Kim alias Jena, 34, wife of Wahengbam Saratkumar alias Sopaiba Singh, 39, of Wabagai Hiyanglam Awang Leikai.
Police said acting on a tip-off about the presence of underground cadres around Kakching area, the Manipur police team assisted by one woman commando conducted frisking and checking at Keirak Tomal Makhong, near Thoibisana Service Station.
During the police activity, one unknown lady (later identified as Nemneilhing) was noticed coming by foot from Wabgai side towards Kakching in a suspicious manner. Due to her suspicious manner she was detained for spot verification.
During verification, she identified herself as Nemneilhing and revealed that she along with her husband are active members of the proscribed underground outfit.
She disclosed that she joined PREPAK (Pro) in the year 2004 through self-style corporal of the outfit, Chanu of Churachandpur. She got basic training for 45 days in Burma of the 14th batch and presently holds the rank of 2nd Lieutenant of the said outfit.
Further, she stated that she is working under the command of one Kesho who is a self-style major of the same outfit. She was arrested at the spot by observing formalities.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law at the police station concerned for further necessary action.
