The World Meetei Council (WMC) on Sunday stated that the steep increase in air ticket prices over the past year has added a significant financial burden on the already struggling residents, while the Meeteis are forced to rely on air travel as the only safe means of transportation due to the restricted and unsafe conditions on the key National Highways connecting Imphal to Nagaland and Assam.

In response, the WMC has submitted a memorandum to minister of civil aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu urging urgent intervention to regulate and reduce air ticket prices for flights connecting Imphal with Dimapur, Guwahati, and Silchar, stated a release.
