MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam of Keishamthong AC on Friday said that involvement of locals is necessary while bringing about development and assured that he will put cent per cent effort for bringing development in the constituency.
Addressing the laying of foundation stone of ‘Meira Sporting Union Building cum Community Hall’ at Kwakeithel Ingkhol Lamhang Leirak, Imphal West, Nishikant said he will stick to his promise that he made during the election campaign.
“I will try to deliver 100 per cent of my promise for welfare and to bring a developmental change for Keishamthong assembly constituency,” the local MLA said.
He said that as a part of the promise he made earlier, black topping of Khagempalli Road has started and with the assistance of ‘Team Nishikant’, along with concerned officials of PWD, survey of over 60 roads, including six major roads of the assembly constituency, has been completed as a part of 100 days' programme of the present BJP-led coalition government. He added that while bringing development for the assembly constituency, road connectivity, drinking water and drainage system will be prioritised.
Nishikant appealed to the people of Keishamthong assembly constituency to support Team Nishikant on cleaning the drainage system as involvement of locals is necessary in order to bring development. He said that in the next few years people will witness the developmental changes that people have been waiting for a long time.
Padma Shri awardee Naba Wareppa, as dais members, said Meira Sporting Union was established in 1992 but no development has been brought for the union since. He said Nambul Mapal Athletic and Cultural Organisation (NACO) is one of the most famous sports’ clubs but there is no proper office building. Similarly, Meira Sporting Union is also in vulnerable condition but with the construction of a new office building, many talented sports persons can be produced, he added.
To develop a society, involvement of sports is necessary as many youths are becoming victims of drugs and other narcotic substances, Naba said.
He further said an international quality football artificial turf ground needs to be constructed and an urban healthcare centre is needed for the people of the assembly constituency.
