Socio political commentator Ch Bijoy Singh on Friday expressed doubts, stating that there might be some hidden agendas that the Central government failed to withdraw SoO agreement during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur.

Addressing the media at his residence located at Lamphel, Bijoy said the Union home minister stated that violation of SoO ground rules will be strongly dealt with. The same statement was repeated several times by Chief Minister Biren Singh and security advisor to Manipur Government, Kuldiep Singh, he added.

If the government is going to take such action, then why did it not pick up the arms of the SoO militants that are being kept at respective designated camps, he questioned. If the arms and ammunitions are to be kept at respective designated camps then who is going to monitor those arms and ammunitions, he questioned further.

The government could deposit the arms and ammunition of SoO militants at a safe place here in Imphal so that they could be prevented from violating ground rules, he suggested.

The government should create a trust for the people inhabiting the foothills that they are protected from armed militants and after that, the assault rifles that were snatched from the police personnel will be automatically surrendered, he added.

He said the announcement of Amit Shah to launch helicopter service from Moreh via Churachandpur via Aizawl via Guwahati could affect the integrity of Manipur and the announcement could appease the Kuki militants.

The helicopter will create a gap between the Kuki and Meitei community, said Bijoy.

Bijoy said the present administration of Manipur is a ‘De facto’ central rule that will bring a big confusion to the people of Manipur. He said to avoid the confusion, the central government should implement President Rule and a fresh election should be conducted.

He further said Amit Shah made a statement that the cause of present communal clash is due to the ‘hurried’ decision of High Court of Manipur directing the state government to recommend central government on Schedule Tribe status for Meitei/Meeitei.

Using the word ‘hurried’ is an insult to the Manipur High Court and the allegation was made to protect the chief minister and BJP party, he said.

Amit Shah should acknowledge that the communal clash was started by Kuki armed militants supported by drug kingpins towards the Meitei community with a pre-plan process, Bijoy said.
