War on Drugs 2.0: Another village chief arrested in Kangpokpi

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a Facebook post, said that the village chief of Lhangsom village, Jamthang Haokip, has been arrested for illegal poppy plantations.

In continuation of the Manipur government's War on Drugs initiative, another village chief was on Sunday arrested in Kangpokpi district.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a Facebook post, said that the village chief of Lhangsom village, Jamthang Haokip (54) S/o (L) Jamkhotong Haokip, has been arrested by a police team of Saikul Police Station led by inspector Lunthang Vaiphei, OC/Saikul PS and SI eiginlen Kipgen.

"WAR ON DRUGS:- 2–0 Another Village Chief arrested for illegal poppy plantations. Police team of Saikul PS led Inspt. Lunthang Vaiphei, OC/ Saikul PS and  Si.Seiginlen Kipgen arrested the village chief of Lhangsom village namely  Mr. Jamthang Haokip (54) S/o (L) Jamkhotong Haokip of Lhangsom Village under Saikul-Ps, Kangpokpi District in c/w Case FIR.No.4(1)2023 SKL- PS U/S 18(b) ND&PS Act. for illegal poppy plantation. Well done kangpokpi Police team," the chief minister posted on Facebook.

At least eight village chiefs, including two from Churachandpur, five from Kangpokpi and one from Chandel, have so far been arrested in connection with the poppy cultivation case in Manipur.
