The villagers carried the expectant woman on a handmade bamboo cot for more than 15 km until she was picked up by an ambulance arranged by the Kuki Kanglai Lawmpi (KKL) and brought to the Churachandpur district hospital.

The 32-year-old woman, Nemneikim is the wife of one Sounminthang from Henglep village and she was in need of immediate medical attention for her child delivery. It may be mentioned that the incident of Nemneikim was not the first of its kind that happened in the remote village of Henglep sub-division. There had been several incidents where the villagers had to carry sick people on foot to the hospital due to the deplorable road condition. Henglep village is approximately 100 km away from the Primary Healthcare Centre in the district headquarter.
