USYC, SGVYO embark on cleaning Imphal River

Clean Imphal River Campaign: A large number of youth from Saparmeina and Saitu areas cleaned the Imphal River from Koubru Laikha to Pangmol village in Kangpokpi district.

As part of the Clean Imphal River Campaign and endorsing the initiative of the state Government, the United Saparmeina Youth Club and Saitu-Gamphazol Village Youth Organisation embarked on cleaning the Imphal River at Saparmeina on Tuesday.

The "Clean Imphal River Campaign", an initiative of the Manipur government was recently launched at Kangpokpi following the successful cleaning and rejuvenation campaign of the Nambul River.

A large number of youth from Saparmeina and Saitu areas, under the aegis of United Saparmeina Youth Club and Saitu Gamphazol Village Youth Organisation, led by Micheal Lamjathang Haokip, who was recently appointed spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh, cleaned the Imphal River from Koubru Laikha to Pangmol village in Kangpokpi district.

The Imphal River cleaning drive will be along the stretch from Kangpokpi to Sekmai for Phase-I.

The youths from Saparmeina and Saitu areas collected domestic and solid waste materials polluting the river with the assistance of JCB.

The cleaning of the Imphal River by USYC and SGVYO was initiated in collaboration with the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh appreciated and lauded the youths of Saparmeina and Saitu area for supporting and endorsing the initiative of the Government in cleaning the Imphal River in his Facebook post.

The chief minister said, "I Salute to all of you". Support coming in from volunteers of United Saparmeina Youth Club (USYC) and Saitu-Gamphazol Area Villages Youth Organisation (SAGVYO) for the Clean Imphal River Campaign, 2022, recently initiated by the state government.
