Urgent need to uplift people living BPL: Manipur Governor

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday emphasised the urgent need to uplift people living Below Poverty Line, develop world-class infrastructure, improve communication and healthcare facilities, to drive the nation forward.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday emphasised the urgent need to uplift people living Below Poverty Line, develop world-class infrastructure, improve communication and healthcare facilities, and promote skill-based vocational studies to drive the nation forward. 

She was speaking at the 8th Annual North East India Commerce and Management Association (NEICMA) Conference and a two-day International Seminar on ‘INDIA towards a $7 trillion economy by 2030’ organised by the department of Commerce, Manipur University, stated a release.

She congratulated the organisers for hosting such a conference and international symposium during a period when the state faces economic challenges due to the ethnic violence that erupted in May last year, it said. 

She expressed hope that the conference would generate innovative ideas to boost the state's economy. She commended NEICMA for its commendable efforts in fostering strong relationships among commerce and management professionals in colleges, universities, and educational institutions through seminars, conferences, and workshops, it mentioned. 

She also said that it is impossible to isolate one country from the world’s economy. She stressed that trade relations are governed not only by the forces of demand and supply but also by a comprehensive set of bilateral and multilateral rules, it further stated.

She also acknowledged the participation of experts and scholars from various countries including Japan, Nepal, and different states of India particularly the North-Eastern States. She emphasised that their contributions would significantly influence the discussions and deliberations during the conference.

Manipur University, vice-chancellor, professor N Lokendra Singh; Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, vice-chancellor, professor Alok Kumar Chakrawa; Manipur University, School of Social Science, dean, professor Th Purnima Devi; Yoshida Japan Yamaguchi University, professor Asamizu Munehiko; Uniglobe College, Nepal, academic director professor Radhe Shyam Pradhan, and president, NEICMA professor Amrit Pal Singh were part of the ceremony.
